pulling an engine from a wreck what type of HP to expect?

From what i read, he's getting the engine for free but has to pay for install?

$500 or less installed and i'd def go for it no matter what is on it

On post #14 he mentioned $2,000 for the swap. I'm hoping to god someone isn't charging 2 grand to install that motor or I'll head out there and do it for $1,500 :D. either way once he mentioned 2 grand the run far away light turned on !!

Optima batts can be in any position, sideways, upside down, it doesn't matter. they're gel inside not liquid acid. And it's probably on it's side because they're taller than the batts for these cars and his hood probably won't close with it upright.

My s/c 351 .030 over with a 9lb pulley and HCI puts out 394 to the wheels without the meth. A stock 5.0 won't do much more than 200 rwhp (5speed). But it sounds like it's a free motor, don't do a complete swap, just take the good parts off and put them on yours, put your parts on the freebie and sell it as a good used 5.0. Then you get some goodies for your car and cash in your pocket.

I see a strut tower brace, systemax intake, electric fan, caster/camber plates, BBK CAI, and what looks like a BBK throttle body and spacer. As suggested, snag those parts for your car and anything else of value, swap your stock crap back onto it, and sell as a roller or something. Whatever you do, make sure it doesnt involve handing an envelope with $2k in it to another human being, or, worse, swiping a credit card for $2k.

:nice:

so the $2,000 includes yanking both engines and then putting one back in.
My trans also has a leak somewhere and this new trans is rebuilt so i'm changing everything.

1. i take the wreck to the shop. they yank the engine w/ trans.
.....then i tow the wreck to the junk yard and strip it for all the parts i want.

2. later in the month i take my car to the shop they yank the enigine w/ trans.

3. they put the wreck engine w/ trans into my car.

4. i possibly find a shell. put my old engine into it and sell it recoup cost.

I'm not trying to justify the cost. you guys can let me know if its still not worth it or if it is.

any mechanic worth his weight in beans can pull a 5.0 motor in less than 4 hours...install same, and that's real world snail pace. $2000 is a ton of cash for a motor swap that is netting you no warranty or real honest to goodness TRUSTWORTHY history on that mill. I wouldn't touch that deal with a 10foot poll.
