When I did mine, I pulled engine and tranny all together. Just leave the trans crossmember hooked up to the car. Unbolt the trans from the mount. I needed a propane torch to heat the driveshaft bolts to get them out. Just take your time and unhook everything. You dont have to take the wp, or harmonic balancer off, until its out of the car. It can be 3-4 hours, I took my time and used a whole day.

Mines out right now but i dont have any Pics, I also just got done repainting the Engine bay. Basically I got a bunch of sandpaper, Drills with steel brush attachments and went At it!Then i repainted it primered it first then used some engine paint to paint the rest. If you have a sandblaster i would use that. also its a lot eaiser to do when there is almost nothing left in the engine bay.

Drain all the fluids in the tranny and engine. Disconnect the drive shaft, exhaust, engine/tranny mounts, shifter, fuel lines, wires, etc. and use a cherry picker to pull the engine and tranny at the same time. Leaving the tranny in there sounds easier but its a pain trying to line everything back up to mount again. Just do it outside the car and you are set. To clean the engine compartment I say tooth brush, gloves, bristled brush and some cleaning solution/degreaser should do the trick. Goggles too... Try some of that spray on rinse off stuff first... I have seen some pretty good results especially if it saves you some time and just use some elbow grease on the stuborn parts.

when i pulled my motor i pulled the tranny off first, i mean its not that hard to pull it off. Is it eaiser too pull them both together? i mean thenyou have to tilt everything and lift the picker up higher.... What does eveyone think? Sorry not tring to jack the tread this would be good to know

ok i got it out i think it is easier to strip it down to the block which makes it easier to unbolt the bell housing so i just pulled the block then pulled the trans out the bottom i found that a pressure washer and purple power(be sure to cover anything u dont want ruined finish seals wires so on) it cleaned up nice i didnt have such luck with my block tho after stripping it down i discoverd there are grooves on the cylinder walls so im just gonna buy a rebuilt block iv decided to go ahead and hide the wires under the pinch weld and brake booster and paint the engine bay red again
