I was just wondering about the feeling you get by pulling our front wheels on a launch. I ve always wanted to build a car to do that, and I have yet to.
So, would it be easier to do this with an auto. tranny or a 5-spd. Or does it matter. I know you gotta have the engine and traction, etc. I just didnt know about clutch slippage on a hard launch, thanx to all.

you'll need a strong drivetrain cause that is a lot of stress. one of the guys on hear has a picture of his car with the front wheels up and he's only got a N/A h/c/i combo.

CLUTCH SLIPPAGE=NO PULLING THE TIRES on a hard launch. Like the above post, this places alot of stress on EVERYTHING! Better be prepared to fork over some serious $$$$ to replace things. Also, if you ever get to doing big wheelies dont let out...the car will come crashing down...crushing alot of stuff. I have seen it happen, not a pretty sight.

Dont get me wrong, Im not talkin about 3 feet in the air, but just enough to see some daylight. With my 4.10's and a CAI, oh yaeh, an aode.... I got some work to do.
A buddy of mine didnt have to much to do to get his '87 T-type to do it. But it's probably because our cars are "a little" different. lol

I've never done it on any this Fox, SN95, 5.0 stuff.

Had a few old school cars a long time ago with bullit proof stuff like 9 inch rears & top loader 4 speeds. That old stuff had the metal to take 6k rpm launches with big ole M&H Race Master slicks. If your car was kinda light, the wheels would come up pretty easily, lol.

Those were the good ole days when you had various punkins setup with ratios between 4.57's & 5.13's.

I'm assuming you meant me.

Like he said, this is a 302 naturally aspirated with H/C/I. On this pic, I have the ET Drags and dropping the clutch at 5500rpm and this is the result. You can see the shadow under the tire so I'm thinking at least 4inches up in the air.

Not to start a fight SQUEEZE AND STROKE, but last year, SLIPPING the clutch on 275's BFG Drag radials, I was lifting as well but not as high as the pic. I never saw it in pic, but my friends and some strangers told me when they were watching me at the track.

No, I meant if the clutch itself is slippinh...ie not enough clamping force. But anyways...I hope to see my car do the same as your picture in about a month when it goes back together. NICE PIC, thats all I have to say...must be a great feeling...

Down here at the local dragstrip, some guy had Mustang with a turbo, not sure what the engine itself was, but it was his first time running and he didn't think his car would need wheelie bars....WRONG!!

He basically had the car on it's ass end, and when he let off the throttle it came down and hit so hard it caused about $1000 in damage to the suspension and so forth. It also split the oil pan open and shut down the track for awhile.

Funny thing is that when the car hit 2nd gear it almost did the same exact thing I got the video around here somewhere, lemme see if I can find it

Thanks man
Both wheels are lifting with the slicks. But the passenger tire was barely going up .

It is very streetable. Not much into it either.
I got stock springs all around, front Lakewood 70/30 (street/strip) struts, KennyBrown full lenght subframe connectors and some X2C non-adjustable upper and lower control arms. I also have the front swaybar unscrewed but can be screwed back for the daily driving.(no need to remove it...just unscrew the bolts). Battery still in the original place and no weight reduction !
