pulling hair out and losing sleep

New 306 with about 1.2 miles on it and 8 hours of trying to get it to run right, It has The trickflow H.C.I. along with cold air, 24 lb. injectors underdrive pulleys, catless exhayst bbk headers, and new a 75 mm MAF, I also upgraded throttle body and egr to 75mm. My problem is quiter simple I don't know what the fu*& I am doing apparently, I have done lots of carbed, non computer enginnes, and thought I was cool, this car is owning me, I got it to idle on its own, made it around the block and had some bad ignition knock, advance it and it wont turn over, retard it a little and it backfires, anyone want to buty this from me? just kidding. But I am lost, i have heard alot of guys on htis site stress a tune, some say dont believe it you dont need one, at this point I am out of budget and cant afford the burnt computer from summitt, any advice of what to try ? the only things not new are distributor, wires, timing cover and oil pan, WTF?

Are the injected and MAF "matched" to the same. Also was the spout plug out when you set your timing.

Agreed, is the MAF calibrated for the 24's? It prolly just needs a good tune if the MAF is calibrated.

Also did you set the tps? And Did you remove the spout connector on the dizzy to set timing?

I would consider that maybe you have the dizzy stabbed out of place. It could be a tooth or so off, but could be more than that.
