How hard is it to drop your engine out of your car to get a good view and makes sure everthing is ok? What all do you have to disconnect to do it?

Remove your hood, unplug/undo all wiring connected to the engine including the ground strap on the backside of the engine, remove the motor mount nuts, disconnect the transmission, free up the headers from the h-pipe, disconnect p/s steering and a/c, give it a yank and see what you forgot....

And start a new religion. A religion of labeling EVERYTHING that you disconnect so that you know where it goes when it's time to put it all back together. I use file folder labels from an office supply store.

remove the engine and tranny together, trust me, it's a whole lot easier. PUt an old driveshaft yoke in the tail of the trans so it won't leak, and just pull the speedo cable out of the gear leaving the gear in so it won't leak there.

everything has been covered. There is surprisingly, very few connections that hold this all in, so it's pretty straight forward.
