PUSH IN CLUTCH TO STOP CAR DIES?????

when ever I stop at stop sign or light I push in clutch and put it in first the rpms drop to like 50-150 and every now and then it even dies.The car idles fine arround 700-850.When car is in gear driving its fine just when the clutch goes to the floor I look at the rpms and they drop if I give it a sec it sometimes goes back to aprox 800.What does the thing on trans that keeps rpms elevated when stopping?What should I look at.I ran codes and just 67 pops up on koeo test???Something like ac or nuetral drive sensor???

Does your car have a MAF conversion? If it does, clean the MAF and clean or replace your IAC. My 96 GT did the same thing. Thought it was computer related because it started to happen right after I installed the SPEEDCAL (speedometer calibrator for sn95 mustangs). Thinking it was computer, I took it to a shop and felt like an idiot when they told me that's what it was.

Do a search in the forums for "bad idle" or "idle problems."

Try the fixes listed in those threads, such as cleaning the IAC, adjusting TPS, etc.

I had the same problem (not consistently) and doing some of the steps made things near perfect.

Thanks for replys!!!Its a 86 gt 5-speed stock with new tps at .98 Timeing at 10 I recently had a problem with erratic idle problem and a new map sensor took care of it.Now the only problem is when the clutch goes in to go to nuetral when stopping or 2nd when turning.

VSS or vehicle speed sensor. it keeps the RPM's up ~1500 during a rolling idle to keep the motor speed from falling too fast and stalling. it is on the trans. not sure that is your problem (does this happen while rolling or are you completely stopped when it happens?)

i would clean the IAC and go from there.

I bypassed my egr coolant hoses cause I thought my egr spacer was leaking coolant into upper(just condensation in tail pipes)I have left it like this would this effect this problem?Why do some stangers do this on purpose?

two theories. one is that it helps deice the TB and one is that it helps cool the EGR charge.

if you are having rolling idle problems, i might check the VSS. remember it can be giving the IAC a signal to raise the rpm for the accompanying load, but if the IAC is not working properly, it is to no avail.

I saw a similar problem a while ago and don't remember much about it so bare with me. Just another consideration that may infact involve the electrical system. In that case, something in the ignition system was not grounded properly and depressing the clutch (and activating the switch) opened up what ended up being its alternate ground causing the engine to cut out. It may also have been that the switch activation took gave ground to something that wasn't supposed to have it (I can't remember). Maybe someone with more knowledge of that part of the electrical system can shed some light on what exactly it might have been. Good Luck.

Edit: One way to find out if this has any baring is to take it out of gear and let the clutch back out to see if it's still doing the same thing during deceleration.
