pusher vs puller fan

anyone know what's better for an electric fan, push or pull? and why do you think so. i have heard alot of different opinions, but i just wanted see everyones opionins here. :nice:

umm i think the pusher goes in front of the radiator, but i heard the puller was the way to go and if you put both a pusher in front and a puller in back it would cool very well

LOL - pushing air back out through the front, huh? bowtiekiller - I think you have the most unique definition of how a "pusher" fan works that I've heard yet. :)

The puller is definitely more efficient than a pusher - moves more air across the radiator for the same energy input. And a properly sized and designed shroud helps a great deal.

From SPAL's FAQ:

Do straight blade fans move more air than curved blade fans?

Yes. Generally straight blade fans will provide greater airflow. Curved blade fans are
designed to be quieter during operation.

If I use your fan, do I need a shroud for my radiator?

In most applications, a shroud is not necessary.

Which fan do I need?

When selecting a fan for your application, choose the fan that provides the greatest
coverage of the radiator core. If space is available, we recommend a pull type fan.
