Pushrod Guideplates too wide

I am building up my 347 and when I got to the valvetrain I ran into this problem.

I tried nothcing the guideplates to move them left and right but they are still too wide. The roller on the tip of the rocker is not in the center of the valve stem. I can get one perfect and the other one is way off. Even if I center them it makes both of them a little off. They both end up facing towards the inside of the valves. Any help would be usefull. I figured out how much to cut out of the center to make it work but didn't know if that was safe or not.

my buddies car was doing to same thing. they dont happen to be cylinder heads from tristate cylinder head are they? we are gonna end up just getting new guideplates or grinding a little out. his pushrods were rubbing the guideplates pretty bad too so they are definetly wrong

I am using Pro-Comp Heads. But that really dosen't have anything to do with it. I was just going to cut the guide plates in half and spot weld them back together to make them the right width. Not shure if that was safe or not but i know it would fix the problem.

yep dont even have to weld if you dont want to, they sell individual plates. Have cut them in half more times than I can remember

sbftech thanks. I figured they didn't even need welded Iwas just going to tack them so they didn't move but I can see how it dosen't matter. Seeing how I don't have time to get a new set I am going to cut the ones i have.

should be any problem at all. If you buy Isky adjustable guide plates you don't have to cut.
