i just saw someone else ask about the pushrod length with trickflow heads and get a good basic idea. i have been wondering this for my car also.

what length pushrods should i be at approximately with this setup:

edelbrock performer rpm heads (1.90/1.60 valves), 1.6 rockers, performer rpm intake, fms lifters, 274 hr cam, ect. all info is in my sig.

i currently have the stock length, 6.250 length i believe, in there. im pulling my valvecovers off to swap them and figure ill order some pushrod sets and see which fits best or worst case get the length checker if i dont have a general idea.

thanks

i pulled my valvecover, loosened the rocker bolt with the valve closed.

it took about 3 full turns before i was able to move the rocker up and down. just so im correct, this makes the pushrods actually too long?

my 1/2"-3/8" adapter on my torque wrench has disappeared for WHATEVER ****ING REASON. so i cant get an exact number of turns. ill either place an order for shims or for shorter pushrods later if im on the right track with this.

ok, i got another adapter and tested it.

valve closed, backed off the bolt, found where it JUST got tight enough to not pivot it back and forth.

i got approximately 1 3/4-2 turns out of it from that point. so im guessing thats roughly 0.050, too long.

is this enough of a difference to worry about swapping pushrods/shimming? the only reason i am testing this, is i get quite abit of valvetrain noise at a certain point.

i called compcams and he said the cam is known to cause some excess valvetrain noise but to check them anyways. so based on that, is 0.050 too high enough to purchase shims or pushrods? i dont have either so ill have to order whatever i end up doing.

thanks
