This might be a stupid question, but I had my intake manifold off, and noticed these bushings that look like they are migrating out of their bores. Are these just sleeves that the pushrods ride in? I don't think they're just in that position due to the valve position, since the only ones visible are the two on the back end and one at the front of the engine.

Is this normal?

Those aren't sleeves, those are the lifters. Yes, that is normal. They go up and down as the cam dictates.

Thanks. It just didn't look normal, since you would think visible parts of the lifters would be scattered around the cylinders, instead of just the ones on the ends.
