Okay Guys need help.. I'm a novice at this so I have a whole lot of questions. First off I'm working with a 88 lx vert. So far only thing I have besides car in working condition is parts I've ordered. Here the list: Edelbrock 71233 5.0 intake manifold perfromer rpm II , ford Aluminum racing shaft, 3.73 gears high performance water pump, mass/cold air intake, and the original block and transmission. Were do I go from here? Dont want more then 350 horses just a cruise vehicle but want it to sound mean and be able to step on it every once in awhile! I need to now what should I match this with. I was thinking keeping the cylinder heads Edelbrock since the intake was. I also need it to pass smog! So what should I do as far as cylinder heads, camshaft, headers, throttle distributor, timing chain, etc. etc. Also should I rebuild my transmission or get a whole new Block and Transmission.

Welcome to Stangnet. This is a VERY common topic and I might suggest you visit the technical index and there's a thread in there about what to buy and what order to install it in. There is a vast knowledge base already on there and for more specific questions, feel free to post up.

Eddlebrock does have smog legal heads that are decent, and i think the tfs cams are smog legal too, thats a good starting point. BBK makes decent headers, long tube, and a factory distributor will be ok.
