Quality difference between HD-dvd and HD movies thru digital cable

Paramount did drop BRD for HD DVD (Microsoft made a deal) Thats why you can't get Transformers on BRD. There is a player out there made by LG called the Super Blu that plays both formats. But at $1000 a pop its stupid to buy now. But at least you will be set no matter what format wins.

Not entirely true. Toshiba PAID Paramount (it's widely known, and Paramount even admitted it) $150 million dollars to give HD-DVD the exclusive for Transformers (when it was to be released).

Talk about politics :notnice:

Paramount was BRD exclusive until Microsoft and Toshiba threw $150 mil at them to go HD DVD exclusive.

The one thing that will kill blu ray is ****. Sony will not allow **** on the format as Toshiba does not care. That's one reason why VHS beat out BETAMAX. Sony also created BETAMAX.

EDIT: They were heading towards being BRD exclusive.

It's all a matter of what camp you are in. I am in the Microsoft camp and hate Sony for their $100 worth of parts in a product and sell it for $400. In my dorm there are 5 people with 360's and 2 guys with Wii's. No one has a PS3.(the guy I reffered to had a friend that brought it over) Most everyone is playing GH3 or Call of Duty 4 or Rock band.

Its is widely known that the PS3 costs more to build than they sell it for. The PS3 includes alot of things standard the Xbox 360 doesnt and is only $100 more for a similar unit.

I have both and both are good consoles. The 360 is better right now due to game selection but having the Blu Ray cCapability built in and not a $200 option like 360 is nice.

Ok while we are here....

HDMI cables. IS there a difference between an $80 cable and a $20 cable?

Check out some of the prices of cables on this site

I bought an optical and HDMI cable off here just to get me going. For $20 it was worth it at the time. Picture seems fine, but now that i'm done building my Home theather, should i be concerned with the quality of those cables and look to "upgrade" to something better? Is there even a difference??

Monoprice FTW!

There is NO difference in digital cables (aka HDMI). All that's transmitted are 1's and 0's.

I bought a pair of the cheapest cables ($45.00 or so) from BB when I picked up my TV earlier this year. I got a set of "AR" brand cables, and I made sure to ask the sales guy if they were returnable, which they were. I used those until my Monoprice cables came in the mail, and let me tell you the construction on my $15.00 cable was far superior to the $45.00 cable. The worst cable you can buy (as far as price is concerned) are Monster ones. I mean, >$100.00 for a cable is outrageous. Even the fanboys on AVS forums recommend Monoprice cables. Here's the cable I bought (I bought 2 of them too):

Component video cable is a totally different animal, where cable construction DOES matter.

I was talking about Sony's hardware in general. TV's, receivers, camcorders, digital cameras, etc.
