Quality Exhuast Tips?

Whats a good brand of exhaust tips to buy? I found some nice 3 inch chrome slash cut tips at my local pepboys but i figured the chrome would peel off in about a month, where do you guys reccomend I buy from? Also what is a good length of tip to put on our car enough to where the tip doesnt stick far out of the bumper but you cant see much of the weld underneath. I was looking at 18 inch tips, is that too short/long? thanks

18" sounds right (from what i've read)

I have MAC 2.5" chrome tips on my fox, look great (not sure on price, came on car)

cool, anyone else know any good companies? What if I was to get the whole tailpipe kit like MAC sells, with the hangers and everything. My only problem is there tips are 2.5' and I wanted 3 inches. Anyone know a set in 3 inches

I bought some off of e-Bay (not sure of the brand) and I thought they were very good quality. I paid right around $50 bucks for both and they are 24" long and 3.5" in diameter. They have a slash cut and fit very nicely under the car. I will take some pics and post them up if you want. I put them on myself w/ the use of a friend's lift. I had to cut the exhaust off pretty far back to get them under car without sticking out too far, but I didn't want them to look like "tips", I wanted the "all the way back" look. I reused the stock hangers by cutting them off the stock tailpipes and welding the to the tips. One thing I will tell you is make sure they are stainless steel rather than just chrome plated, because that plating will eventually flake off and then they will look terrible. Stainless should shine virtually forever if taken care of. I'll try to take some pics soon, I really need to buy a digital camera!

Cool man, thats the look Im going for too, the all the way to the back look. So did 24 inches do that for ya? I thought it would be kinda hard cuz i noticed the tailpipes kinda angled in, so putting a straight tip on there would make it look weird. Or am I wrong. If you have a pic that would be great

i dunno how good they are, but ractive sells some 3" tips... they seem like a good company and a few major companies carry them

I think Im gonna look into the Mac-catback system, that way I can get some mufflers, 3 inch tips and pick up a few horses with the mandrel bent tailpipes. Is $312 the cheapest you have seen for a Mac Catback for our cars? I really need to save as much as I could, this cat back is gonan cost me almost a whole paycheck

i bought the mac cat back system w/ 3" polished stainless tips (i think thats what they actually are even though they call them chrome over at mac) i was very happy with the look of them until i put on my o/r h pipe, now the exhaust temperature is much higher at the back of the exhaust and the very tip (about the last 1/4 inch) is starting to blue on me...or rainbow for those not familiar with the term blueing(like hot motorcycle pipes or chrome headers) and even though its hard to see unless you know its there, it still happened and it shouldn't be that way, just a word of caution this is only after about a month so it could get worse

I will try my hardest to get some pics of my tailpipes, but yes, the 24" did work. I cut off the stock pipes just after they begin to slant inward, and when you slide the 2.25" tapered end over the stock tailpipe, it still allows for some movement. My tailpipes are perfectly centered and straight, it all depends on the positioning of your hangers and how you weld them to the remaining tail pipe. I wish I would have just bought a complete 2.5" catback, but at the time weld in Flows and tips seemed just as good and saved me some cash. Mac makes very nice sounding/quality catbacks, that would probably be my choice if I did it over.
