I know its tough to say but was wondering what times I might expect for a 1/4 mile pass. I've hit the strip before just not in this car as it's currently my DD. Mods are below but lets say street tires vs drag radials

87 Mustang GT
5 speed
Mass Air Converted (A9L)
3.55 gears
MAC fender CAI
Draglites front and back
Aluminum driveshaft
75mm TB
Cobra Upper/Lower
GT40P heads
TrickFlow stage 1 cam
FRPP SS Shorty headers
Underdrive Pulleys
3.55 Gears
Subframes
O/R H pipe
Mac Pro Dumps
A/C and smog delete

thanks

You can get a very good estimate what you should run from your trap speed so even if you dont get the best 60 you will have alot better idea than us guessing if you had trap speeds.

i say if the car runs good, and with a tire and good driving it should go high 12s, should run consistant low 13s easy. i'd expect that combo to trap in the 105-108 mph zone. (just a guess)

So I might could knock off a couple tenths if I ditched the GT40P's and went with some Twisted wedge or AFR? Actually got the GT40P heads for free...neighbor pulled them off an explorer and he gave them to me for fixing his idle problem on his 89 LX (dirty MAF sensor.....shhh lol) Im thinking twisted wedge mainly as a better match for my tfs1 cam

We have a very similar set up here:

Stock bottom end
Stock cam
GT40Ps with a good valve job, milled slightly
Cobra intake

When it had 3.55s the car went 12.17 @ 110 on a pair of slicks. With 4.10s it has been 12.14 @ 111.

I would say for a DD and not having the head work, 12.50s shouldnt be hard!

Assuming a curb weight of 3450lb with driver and 300rwhp, you should do a 12.6 @ 108.

There's several local guys running mid-high 12s with the exact heads and cam you have. Granted, they're on full slicks and are seriously racing their cars, but you're making 12 second capable power..put it that way.

That's what i'm looking for...i was hoping expect 12's. I just picked up a set of gt40 irons from a 96 explorer yesterday NON- P heads and I have an ecam in the garage and was thinking of a cobra or explorer intake for a quick budget build until i do a modular swap...in the mean time I can have fun with the car. My 95 with h-r hpipe, catback, 3.27's, bumped timing went 13.5@99 so I was really hoping to see atleast 12's myself. With the addition of heads, cam, intake, gears, and maybe headers. I gotta make the "toy" fast than the daily driver though! lol so 12.94 is the goal.

I can't wait to run mine this spring and see what she'll do.

I don't mean to hijack, but I don't see the sense in creating another thread about it. Anyone wanna guess at mine?

306
HolleyMax System II heads, upper/lower, cam
24lb injectors
Crane fireball ignition
AC/smog delete
Mac ram-air kit
Alum driveshaft
Centerforce cluth
3.55 gears
Tubular k-member
Full length SBC's
Front/rear shock tower braces
Rear MM lower control arms, front lower FMS arms
Panhard bar, k member brace, torque arm bar
Equal length shorties, Off road Prochamber, Mac turndowns, all 2 1/2"

I'm sure some of the suspension mods may not help much, perhaps even add some weight but it was built for road racing not drag. Assuming I can get some decent traction, watcha think?

Just curious how it'll match up to my times when I do run it.

If your starting at 13.5s, 12s shouldnt be hard with some GT40s, a cam and an intake. Might take some fine tuning to get it optimized but in the end high to mid 12s shouldnt be tough to accomplish!

DocG2828, Your combo is nothing like the OPs, which I assume you know that, and yours should run in the low 12s to 11s. Well at least that would be my goal for that set up!

Thanks! I realize its a different setup, but seemed like some similar mods. I'm pretty new to the 5.0 game.

Mine really needs a drivers mod, never been to track!
