Not sure if it’s factory tint or paint, etc, so excuse me if I’m using the wrong terminology to explain the issue. Lol
My drivers side quarter window “factory tint” is bubbled. Bought the car like that so can’t advise when this occurred. The entire solid black area where the “mustang” logo is written is deformed. Instead of being solid black as it’s suppose to be its bubbled (best I can describe it). Has anyone ever seen this and knows of any fixes? Worse senerio I will find a replacement window but of course I’d like to try and fix it if possible. I’m not sure the back of the window is even accessible once it’s out to try and fix it? Any ideas?

It’s probably delaminating. Not sure if the can be fixed.

It's not tint. It’s formed around the window. Looks like it’s delamination

here’s the backside. You’ll need a new window

Ok as I suspected. New window.
I was hoping it could be pulled and re-tinted or even sprayed jet black or something like that.
ok well the hunt will be on for a used OEM window replacement. My OCD is not going to let me leave it alone. Lol
Thanks for the info guys and the pictures!

That may be part of the fix when Fox Resto does the quarter window restoration. It's worth a call to them. Easily fixable either way.

Good idea. I just sent them an email with photos and will see what they advise. I will let you all know in case anyone else is curious when they respond. I just checked out their window restoration link and it seems very expensive. They give a detailed explanation of what they restore but it’s not clear about my situation. It’s worth an ask anyway but like you said, easy fix either way so if need be I will get a window and swap it out. No rush so I will just keep my eyes open online or maybe in June at Carlisle.

They do good work and honesty have cornered the market in this area. Lots of guys here have used them, but yes they are pricey.

NOS Carlile glass pops up occasionally unless you want the non OEM style (no "Mustang" in white lettering). Someone offers those as well.

Their lead time is long. If you send them your actual windows, you might be without windows for a few months. Anyone considering this process should pick up a spare set of windows either to send off to have done, or to put on your car in the meantime.

Short of that process, or finding a good used window, are these. There's a guy on ebay who makes the MUSTANG decal if you want it.

Ok so no windows for a few months wouldn’t work for me. To bad it takes that long but understandable. The LMR windows look great and very reasonable price for 2 windows! I’m just not sure about the mustang decal being on the outside of the glass. Thinking that may look noticeable as well. It’s an option though if I can’t find a used OEM one. If anyone has the LMR with the eBay decal on the outside please let me know what you think? I’d be open to that idea if everyone feels it looks fine?

Update for all from Fox Resto..
They got Back to me already (wow, quick!, I’m impressed). I’m out of luck. There response:
“The issue that you have is the one thing that our service does not repair. Our service makes it slightly better, maybe 10-20%, but that’s it. Your best bet is to find a decent used replacement and then send that to us”.
FYI for others that were curious.

Do you just need one window, or a pair?

To be honest, the cheapest (in the long run) and least hassle might be to just pony up and find one GOOD used window and just install that. It would be cheap, but it will be a true OEM window.

Now if you need two new windows....I gues the question would be what are you looking to spend. These things aren't cheap

I just need one window. The driver side. The other side (passanger) is perfect. If i can find a used driver side with no glass issues I’d buy and install that. I’m not worried about the rubber part. I know on a used one it’s going to be deteriorated but that’s fixable so I can deal with that.

Picked up a used window from Ford Nationals show at Carlisle over the weekend as well as a bunch of other parts for cheap. Great show and great buys! Will do the window swap soon when weather permits. Another case solved. Lol
