Question about 373, 308 & 327 gear ratio?

#2
Wondering if a 31 spline, 373 rear gears are better for my street & strip foxbody or would the 308 or 327 gears be better for a vortech supercharged 302 with an AOD manual valve body trans with 525 hp at the crank and 486 rwhp. Which gear ratio world give my foxbody the best performance on the street highway and on the track??

Older 4 speed autos like yours typically have a taller first gear than a manual, so the factory usually puts a shorter gear in the rear to compensate. When I bought the 89 new most 5 speeds mustangs on the lot had 2.73 gears, and most autos got 3.08's or even 3.27's new. With the power you have, I would stay with the gears you have and just upgrade the differential and axles to 31 spline. If you want to maximize the performance then the general rule for a fox body mustang with a pushrod 5.0 is 3.55's for a manual and 3.73's for an auto. All out racing you went with 4.10's
