When I installed my 3g alternator, I used the pulley from my stock alternator. The stock pulley was only about 1.5" and then pulley on the 3g was about 2.5". which pulley is every one else running, and what size belt are you using with all other pulleys stock and the smog bypassed. thanks

3g Alt with pulley that came with it, under drive crank and waterpump, bypassed smog, 83.5 inch belt here.

You can always bring it to autozone with a breaker bar, and just keep trying different length belts.. the gator ones (and probably most other brands) length is the last 3 digits of the part number (ie gator293835 would be 83.5.)

I use the ASP Overdrive pulley on my 3G, and I still get very low charing at idle with the headlights on, a/c on low, brake lights on, fan on... this is with stock water pump and crank pulleys. I have no controller on my fan, ie... DCC controller... and it's wired for high speed. I might try and switch it to low speed to see if it still cools as good and will pull half the amps......... uhhh... sorry for the rant and off topic discussion. lol

Yea I tried with the stock pully and it seemed alrite but with everything on, like down to the wipers and the stereo the voltage started to drop so now I swapped it out for the fox pulley. Now I can run EVERYTHING, to a cool 14.5 volts.

I put an ASP 1 7/8 Overdrive pulley on my 3G because I ran underdrive pullies.

Now i can run everything at idle including my SN95 electric fan and stereo and still get about 13.5 volts at idle.
