Question about aftermarket MAF to match 24# injectors

I got this unit below to go with my new build (TFS Top End Kit + 75mm TB + 24lb injectors/regulartor/255lph fuel pump)

I'm just trying to understand better why it is needed. It looks like the oem sensor is reused. So is the unit just larger to allow for more airflow?

C&L uses different removable (see the 2 bolts on top) calibration tubes for different injectors & different applications. I just got one myself.
