Question about Brake Lines

I'm at the point in my 5-lug swap where I need to connect the new brake lines to the factory hard lines and the new calipers. I'm following the M-2300-K instructions but these torque specs on the brake lines can't possibly be right?

How tight should should the brake lines be? I don't know if it makes a difference, but the cobra caliper kit I bought came with goodridge g-stop stainless lines, doesn't have stock lines.


"STEP 30: Install new front brake hoses (Items 16, 17) to calipers with one (1) banjo bolt (Item 18) and two (2) washers (Item 19) per caliper. Torque bolts to 30-40 ft./lbs.

The left front hose (Item 17) will connect directly to the left front brake tube. Torque 124-212 ft./lbs.

For the right front brake hose (Item 16), connect Weatherhead fitting 7828 (Item 48) between the hose and right front brake tube. Torque 124-212 ft./lbs."

Also, does this step really have to be done? Why would you need to move the mounting tab an inch forward?

"STEP 29: You will also have to move the right front brake tube approximately 1" forward. Re-drill the holes for the clip alignment tab (1/4"diameter) and screw (3/16" diameter) using the clip as a template for hole location. Install the mounting clip using the original self-tapping screw. Install front brake hose in the mounting clip."

Ok, so who in here has had the banjo bolt shear off inside the caliper when tightening?





I was making good progress on the whole swap too..

The ford spec calls for 30-40 ft-lbs, I guess they have never actually followed their own directions. I ordered some new banjo bolts from summit. I guess I won't even try to torque the new ones, just until tight
