I am asking this for a friend of mine. He just bought a 03 Mach 1 with a good bit of mods including cams, intake spacer ,cold air, ect. The problem is that the valvetrain is extremly noisy. Is this common with aftermarket cams installation to hear this alot more noise or can something be done. The springs were changed when the cam was installed. I would appreciate any input.

What is it that causes this tick?

The problem we are haveing is coming from both heads but may be related.

"it's valve train noise that svt knows about but does not have a fix" I know there was supposed to be a replacement head but I sold my cobra and haven't kept up, maybe go to svtperformance.com, ask them

i have a 2 valve gt that i just put cams in, and im getting alot of jiggling and clanking coming from what sounds like the tranny and shifter. also sparatic ticking from the engine bay. i was worried too, but i think this might be normal with cams. not sure.

do a search over at mach1registry for more info on how folks have fixed the tick. I think alot of them just had to have something re-torqued.

yes, that is part of the step by step tsb the dealer must follow, but at the end a lot of people still have the tick, and I'm sure the dealer won't do anything if they know the cams have been added.
