Question about high flow cats.

Is there a very big difference between the bbk x pipe, the the bbk x pipe with high flow cats? How well does the high flow cat unit flow?

The biggest difference will be sound. The catted pipe will be a little bit quieter. As for power, the difference would be too minimal to even notice.

I can't really answer your question but cats are going to haulter performance, by how much im not sure. They also damper the sound by a lot, at least on mine. You should take a look at the 5 piece bassani x-pipe. It comes with removable cats that can be replaced easily with straight pipes (to avoid emmisions/track usage). Their tests also show that their cats flow almost as well as the straight pipes. You should look into those if you are still trying to decide.

actually it will be a bit more performance to go without cats. before with the cats i ran 15.9 at 88mph. after i gutted them and using the stock h pipe i ran a 15.5 at 90mph...nothing else done.

But you're comparing old, high mileage stock cats to no cats. He's talking about the difference between a brand new catless H-pipe and a brand new H-pipe with high-flow cats. Big difference. I'd be willing to bet that the high flow cats wouldn't give you much of a horsepower loss at all.

Yeah stock cats are way more restrictive than high flow aftermarket cats. If i had my choice, I would have my prochamber back on my car in a second, but CA emissions suck.

Thankyou. I should also mention the above situation is definitely not the normal one -- cars should run much better than that even stock, so I wouldn't be surprised fi the cats were BAD, not even just old and stock. I wouldn't doubt picking up a TON of power over clogged cats by just gutting them.
