I currently have a 2001 Mustang Bullitt stroke to a 5.1 with a forged crankshaft, forged rods, forged piston, bbk cold air induction, bbk shortie headers, off road x pipe, and series 40 flowmaster but i have no clue what kinda HP im around or near?? Plus i have a friend who has a bone stock 2000 Z28 that i can't even seem to touch. Is something wrong?? Any help would be appreciated

You would have to get it dynoed. I'd guess about 240rwhp if you have a 5 speed but I'm not sure exactly what is gained in the 5.1 stroke.

Where did this engine come from? I find it completely implausible that someone had a fully built engine put into this car and no dyno tuning was performed to ensure that it was running optimally. Nobody drop that much money on a motor and skips a few hundred on a dyno tune. This post, particularly being a FIRST post, sounds like a trolling expedition.

Looks like you know what the car has done to it but no idea about HP rating !

You just bought the car

You must have been shopping for this type of car , did you ?

You don't end up with a Bullitt equipped with a forged 5.1L no knowing all the specs and no rating !

Are you sure it's a 5.1 L ?

If yes and you just got the car the ex owner who has throw a bunch of money , forging and strocking the motor should have been able to give you some numbers !

I'd like to end up one day with a forged 5.1L and all I had to do is guess about my HP numbers ! :D

welcome to the forums.

Expect no mercy.

You're best bet is to go get a dyno tune. but since you went up +/-10% in displacement with everything else being equal you should probably get a little less than that in HP increase as well.

Are the heads ported? If not there is your problem. VT engines did an article in 5.0 on their stroker block with stock PI heads and it made LESS hp up high. It was choked out of air. When they switched to ported heads it made like 100 more hp.

240?? the bullitt bone stock produces 246.1 RWHP now its stroked to a 5.1 forged everything, headers, x pipe, underdrive pulleys, cold air induction, flowmaster........ im trying to figure out what kinda hp i coulda gained off those mods?

Sounds more like a traction/technique problem to me. I'm currently sitting around 324 at the flywheel and I fair well against most LS1's. I just need some traction :P

ps: the numbers in my sig are old #'s. I'll get another dyno eventually :)
