I replaced my guages with a 140 speedo recently and wheni start up the car the low oil light flashes on that small cluster but not the low fuel or low coolent. I have an 87 LX and i dont know if my car just isnt equiped with those indicators or just the bulbs are out. Also a question about after market gauges. I am going to but a water temp oil pressure and a/f gause for my car. When i connect them will my other guages on the console not function anymore since i will be replacing the sender unit? Can anyone help me out? Thanks

These do not function on an LX. This was a GT option, Ford in their infinate wisdom choose to include the indicator/light assembly, wiring, and everything but the low coolant sensor, the electronic box under the dash, and the bulbs, from the LX.

If you wish to make them work all you need is to find a GT in a wreaking yard and remove the coolant sensor and the electronic box found under the dash, just above and to the left of the glove box opening, it's about 3x3x1 with two conectors on it 6 or 8 pin each if I remember correct . They will plug into your harness (all the wiring and plugs are there) all thats left is to add a couple of 194 bulbs in the dash. A friend of mine recently did this to his '88 ex-patrol car, we took the parts off a '87 GT parts car I had.

You could purchase new parts too, if you wish, but I bet they are not not cheap.

for your new gauges: for oil pressure, you can use a tee fitting at the stock sender location.
for water, several options. you can relocate the stock sender to the rear of the lower intake (if interested, i have a pic from Mike showing it). some use the t-stat housing for the sender too. so both stock gauges can still work.

if you are not running a wideband lambda gauge, it will not be real accurate (just FYI). you tap into the puter harness for that. you can use a toggle to switch from bank to bank if running only one gauge.

good luck.
