Roush question about new shelby

i want to know what you all think about the new shelby that is coming out in 2006. honestly i just dont like the new body of the new stangs that retro style looks like crap. the spedo in the 05 mustang looks like something i would find in my grandmothers car. i think the 2004 svt cobra is much better, the style is much more bad ass and the potential for power is better on the wallet. when that new shelby comes out they will be hurtin people with the price.

They look pretty sharp. The power rating that Ford has given it is just a scratch on the surface for what that combination will be able to produce. Besides, SALEEN is building the darn things for Ford, so they should be pretty well put together :nice:

Glad to see I'm not the only one that pick-up on that in the Hot Rod Magazine article last month. I still can't figure out why Saleen would built the car that is its main competition??? I know that they need something to built in there Troy MI plant once the Ford GT contract is up but WTF?? Maybe they will start building the Rousch cars so Jack can concentrate on his NASCAR teams that aren't doing so hot this year :p

I too am not sure. I will see Steve next month, and this will be the first question I will ask him. I have my own ideas but, I am with you..WTF! A Shelby car, made by Ford, and put together by Saleen...who would have ever thought it???

I guess if you don't think you can't beat them, you'd better join them before they beat you.

I think it's kind of brilliant, the new cobra is obviously going to be a hot seller regardless of who builds it, so you might as well make some cash building it.

I agree.

If Saleen can stay in business by building others cars then so be it. It's not like he would be building Skylines, Supra's and Evo's.
But still, seriously, I think we all know that Ford will probably build the new Shelby. The real question is how much? If it's under 40k that would be great. If its over, then the first year markup may be too much to overcome. Ford is notorius for 'freaking out' and yanking things because they dont fly off the shelves. Remember, the market for a car like this is younger than older. If new Cobra's sit around because dealers are marking them up it will red flag the bean counters. SVT has always been window dressing for Ford. They built quite a few 03/04 Cobras. Only two years of production though. I'm just talkin here. You never know.

The car looks pretty sharp stock, but has the potential for a real eye catcher with some suspension mods. Check-out the .gif I have attached to this reply.
Also, when it comes to Ford advertising the power of their SVT's, they are usually pretty reserved with the numbers. The new Shelby might just actually dyno 450 HP at the real wheels......

Nice gif. Billy.

Like I said earlier, I hope SVT keeps the price under control. If not, I may be in market for a 06 or 07 Z06. That way I can stay pushrod and most importantly it will weigh a lot less than the new Cobra.

I have been throwing the idea around in my head about buying a new V6 deluxe and adding a "Cammer" ( stand alone). Anyone worth their salt is going to do suspension on the new car regardless. All I would need is some fab time and some decent wheels. Nice street ( almost ) street legal Multimatic 05 it would be and for a lot less money.
