Question about PCV Valve on dart block

I am getting ready to install an intake on my motor and i have a dart block. The PCV valve on the block is threaded for a plug. Being that these cars have so many problems with the PCV valve, could i just plug this hole and run valve cover breathers instead of the PCV valve? This car will eventually be supercharged. Thanks!!

I'm not sure what you're talking about bro. I have a Dart and my PCV is in the lower intake just like it is on every other 302 H.O.

he's talking about the plug on the block under the lower intake where people run the bead of silicone. stock 5.0's have a freeze plug there or something. it's definately pressed in there

Its actually on the block itself. Its in the lifter valley exactly where stock 5.0's are, just this one is threaded. My car is not carbed, its still EFI, anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!

ya, don't touch it. it's not the PCV valve. on the stock blocks there is a pressed in plug. im sure if you took that out your oil PSI would drop and you might have oil everywhere

Somewhere in the talk forum, I have pics of my Dart build. If the plug you're referring to is the same as the one I'm thinking of, it stays plugged. I have an allen wrench headed plug in there.

Just read this. Provide a pic if you can. If it's dead center of the lifter valley, mine is still open. It's just an extra hole for oil to return from the valley. They're plugged for racing applications and left open for street applications. On the street, it never hurts to have a bit more oil dripping down onto the cam. For race... it'll cost you a horsepower or two.

From what I understand, there are also plugs that you can thread in there to reduce the size of the hole and restrict the amount of oil draining down onto the cam.

It's up to you, but I'd leave it open.

I'll check back to see if you have any pics and ensure that we're talking about the same thing.

Heres a pic of it, it looks like it sits right under the PCV valve on the intake, maybe i am mistaken and this has nothing to do with the PCV valve. Let me know what you think!

there's supposed to be an allen screw in there

Since that plug was left out you may want to make sure your machine shop or builder didn't forget the other plugs as well. You should have a small plug down inside that rear port blocking the lifter port if that is a HYD roller, which it appears to be.

Check the clearance with the front oil galley/lifter plug as well which is located right behind the dist. I have had some that stick out making it impossible to get a dist in..

Those are all things that should have been checked before the build....

Rick91gt, all those holes are plugged, and the plug you are talking about with the distributor, it was sticking out but i got that taken care of. All the oil galley plugs for the lifter bores are plugged, it was like that from the builder. Thanks for all your help!!
