I've searched and read about how to remove them. I've read some of the reasons for leaving them in vs. taking them out. I've read that twisting the belt will keep it in place (my always gets the twisted part stuck in the upper metal support though).

My question is, can they (the plastic loops) be swapped from one side of the car to the other, so that they are inverted with the slot on the bottom? And still function properly?
