Question about the 4.6 ltr

So my friend he already has a brand new gt its red 4.6 ltr and he just bought another one its black. He thinks its the fastest thing on the road.. its not it has 250 hp he says hes runnin 12s lol. How much hp do you think he would have to have to run 12s and how much money would have to be dumped into it. I ask him why he dont just get a svt he says he dont know? thanks... dan

Somewhere around the 375 RWHP mark will get you into the low 12's. And you will need a SC ($3500) or Nitrous ($1000). To reach that mark.

Stock the 5 speeds can see the high 12's and the Automatics the upper 13's. (with good drivers at the wheel).

you dont need FI to hit 375hp on the 4.6 anymore. check out 5.0 mags march 2004 issue. 4.6 ltr bored stroked to 5.0 makin 375hp 385 lb ft. can u imagine a 150 shot on top of this.

You wont need a lot money. Stock Gts DO NOT run 12s.

Mods for 12s:
DRIVING SKILLS
tall gears
slicks
weight reduction
exhaust
Driving skills
Good track.

Im pretty close but go to a ****ty track.

read bills article at the top of the page. you need about 250 RWHP, good suspension, sticky tires, weight reduction, & lots a practice

& no a stock gt WILL NOT run 12's

man i wish the stock gts ran 12s...... my gt has a full bassani xhaust system with an xpipe, steeda underdrive pulleys, knn fipk intake , 70mm throttle body, 17x9 rear wheels bfg tires, and a 1.5 inch drop on all corners. I dunno how much hp dat has put me up ( if anyone can give me an estimate of how many hp i have ill be very thankful) but with my beginner driving skills.... my fastest time was in the mid high fourteens... =] still practicing to improve

Y0u can do mid 12's on 250 RWHP with slicks, suspension, weight loss, and driving skills.

High 13's to mid 14's with an average of 14 to 14.2 @ 100 mph. You usually won't see the 13's on a stock '99+ Stang without a few basic bolt ons, but there are a few factory freaks out there.

I forgot that my friend has some minor mods on his car. I keep forgetting that people here are very unforgiving to others for being wrong.

Hence the low post count, don't want to put up with the crap.

They have 260hp give or take a few ponies

they have 250 i read it i can show you where i read it... if you would like to know not that it a big deal... he wants to race my friend with a gsx will he get blazed... my friend has apexi n1 exhaust on his gsx 3 inched not cat. and he also got a greddy type 2 bov and boost controler?

it all depends on your altitude, weather conditions, track conditions etc.

Yup that is true. I would do that than nitrous, heads, cams, etc... The car will last longer since it would be almost stock. A gear would help a lot as well.

Oh yeah, Bill Putnam has about 285RWHP, N/A, and is almost in the 11's. 12.08 is his best, I believe.

And he still has an interior, let's see a Honda do that.

All 99+ Gt's have 260 HP. Don't know where you're getting your info.
