I have 2012 gt with 6000 miles on it. I had the oil changed on Tuesday and the tires rotated at sanders ford in Jacksonville nc. Thursday was a warm day so I tried to use my a/c but it didn't work. So Friday I take it back to the same garage and they said a rock had come up from the ground and went through my cooler and now it's going to cost me $600.00 to have it repaired. They said it wasn't covered by the warranty because it was a road hazard. Does anyone have any suggestions of what I can do not to pay the $600.00? It also seems really fishy to me because I know the a/c was working fine Monday before I had the dealer work done.

I'm not certain of what you said got damaged, but it sounds like the condenser might be it. They are correct, Ford will not warranty that because it is not a manufacturing defect. You might want to contact your insurance company, but for such a small claim, I don't think it would be worth it. You are pretty much stuck flipping the bill, but you could try somewhere else to see if you could get it repaired cheaper and see if their diagnosis is the same.

Bigb427 is correct, warranty claimed parts get called back to Ford so they can figure out why it failed and if it's feasable to fix it for the next production run or leave it alone based on % of claimed failures. A hole from a rock would be rejected claim, bad luck but i've run into it before it's not that uncommon however it wouldn't be out of the question to have them show you the hole. $600.00 is not that bad of a price as if I remeber correctly the nose has to come off to swap out the condensor but don't quote me on that.

Thanks for the help. I found a condenser on eBay for about $230 shipped. I guess I will order that and some sort of lower grill to protect it.
