Hey everyone.

I installed my UPR O/R X Pipe over the weekend with a friend. It only took us about 30-45 min and it was pretty painless. I have a couple of questions now.

Can I install MIL's anytime? I didn't have them for this weekend and we hooked everything up as it was before. My friend said I could get MIL's and we can slap then on next weekend. The SES light came on approximately after 80 miles of driving. If I get the MIL's, my understanding is I would unhook the battery and then put the MIL's between the plug-in of the 02 sensor and the factory wiring. Is this correct?

Why does my car smell like it is running rich? This may be from running the 87 octane gas. There is also a small difference when I start the car and how it initially idles. I know it wasn't doing this before the X-Pipe.

I won't ask the question of what Catback system to get because I have read a ton of threads. I am thinking of the MAC Catback. I hopt that will be a good choice.

yes you are correct about the MILs , running rich ? you probably are but thats normal just make sure you dont have any leaks , if you do have leaks replace the factory studs coming out of the manifolds and that will fix your problems , as far as catbacks go , personal opinion is that flowmaster, mac or dynomax (ultraflow) and edelbrock are my favorites . OH and dont run 87

Thanks for the replies.

I will start running at least 89 octane and see if that helps at all with the problem.

The MIL's will go on next weekend or shortly thereafter.

I am pretty sure that there are no leaks because we checked good when the car was still in the air. It sounds good to me. I just was wondering about the smell.

I am probably going with the MAC Catback. I have heard the soundclips and like the way it sounds.

Mustang Tuning has Steeda MIL Eliminators for $54.99. I am going to get them there because of the free shipping.

MIL (Malfunction Indicator Light) Eliminators are electronic devices that prevent your "Check Engine" or "Service Engine Soon" light from coming on when an offroad H or X pipe is installed on a late-model vehicle with OBD-II emissions systems.

Mils prevent the check engine light from coming on because of the removal of teh cats.

You can make your own or buy them from a variety of online stores such as summitracing.com

MILs turn off and keep the SES light off after u install an o/r midpipe. since u have no cats w/ an o/r midpipe, the computer will pick up an O2 sensor malfunction. u can find them at Dallas Mustang etc.... or do it the cheap way and go to Auto Zone and have it turned off for free!

Will Autozone really be able to turn off the Rear 02 sensor? If that is the case I am making a trip to Autozone ASAP. Will this work just as good as getting the MIL's? I am assuming that it would because they are both relatively doing the same thing.

ya, it turns the light off, but i've had to go back to get it turned off again before. I think if it turns on again, im just going to go back to Auto Zone and have the light cleared. and its still free!!! im not sure if they can actually turn off the rear O2 sensor. just go and ask i guess

I'm pretty sure you need a custom chip to turn off the rear 02s. I might have to do it if the second set of MILs doesn't turn off the light. :bang:
