Question for rygenstormlocke

A while back you had your car dyno tuned at Excessive and had some concerns about how they did your dyno, in particular that they used the tailpipe probe which is not the most accurate.

My question is do you feel they did a good job on the tune or would you recommend going elsewhere to get my car dyno tuned? I know Springfield Motorsports dyno tunes cars and uses the tailpipe probe for baselines with A/F but uses 02 bung etc. for actual dyno tuning.

I'm planning on doing a little engine work, nothing major or earth shattering, and want to get the most out of my engine with a good dyno tune. Since I live very close to Excessive I would like to get the dyno done there but only if they do a good job, in one of your posts you expressed some concerns/reservations about they way the dynoed yours.

Also how would you rate Excessive on things like installing LSD's, gears, suspention components and so forth? I plan on upgraded all of that along with some cosmetic stuff within the next month or two.

Any help would be appreciated.

Ok, well to be honest most of my issues with my Nitrous tune was me not understanding how it all works, how an auto works, how to dyno an auto and getting some odd repsonses on other forums on my dyno sheet, thus freaking me out.

Now, as far as my dyno sheet for my zex, the bottom line is I'm running a AF of 13 that goes down to 10 at peak power, which is very rich and safe. Actually Chris at Excessive this past saturday showed me how it all worked, and why the curve looked the way it did on my sheet.

In this area, Excessive is the best shop you can find. They know gears/lsd's better than any other shop, offer fair prices and do good tunes/dynos. In fact, a good bit of Excessive's business comes from other shops, the one you mentioned included.

You will be safe with Excessive, they will take good care of you. PM me for more details if you like.

Thanks. I'll definitely be taking my car in over the next month to have some work done. Gears, LSD, suspension stuff and maybe even upgraded brakes.

One quick question. I noticed in your sig that you have PHP Pulley listed. I know a few others on the forums have gotten but have since put the stock pulley back. Do you still have yours on and has it given you any trouble? That is one of the things I'm planning on doing to mine. I know it doesn't give any more horses that the alternator pulley does but come summer time with the AC it will make a difference there. Sure my AC won't get as cold but at least I'll be more likely to use it!

Mines been on a few months, and I have no issues with it what so ever.
