Question for those with cages...

Should i install my headliner before i put the cage in?

Is it possible to do it with it in?Just a pain in the ass? Or should i definitly put the new headliner in first?

What I am doing is just installing the rods for the headliner then mounting the roll bar about 1.5 inches down from that.

i left my headliner in when i installed my rollbar. just used some stainless and insulation to protect it during welding.

When i tore the 70 apart for resto the blue headliner came out with the intentions of a black one going in...

i just installed the same thing in my '68.
the only tip i can pass along is that the main loop had 'sprung' a little bit. we had to put a strap near the botton and pull it in to fit. other then that, no problems.

the headliner does need to go in before the cage otherwise it's almost impossible to get it in afterwards.

I cant see it beemuch of a problem with just an 8 point bar, if it was a full cage yah, but i think i can get around the one bar.

Left the headliner and braces out to save weight and then just simply used "spatter" paint.

Turned out nice.

I installed my headliner with my 8 point cage already in the car. It was easy. other than me over trimming one of the headliner bow sleeves. But that was my mistake, not the roll cage's.

BTW. I've since removed more of those wrinkles.

Mine 6 point cage went in with the headliner in. Painting it was a pain tho.

1/8" is all that is required per the rules, but i used 3/16" for the main loop part.
