question on internals

this may be considered a stupid question by some people but i dont think i have ever seen this touched on before, so i am kinda curious.

with the rotating assembly everything seems to be either bilet or forged steel. my question is could the internals (except crank) be made from aluminum? reason i bring this up is that i found a shop that said they can do anything i want and was curious to get them to make aluminum pistons and rods, then have them treated with cryogenics for more strength. this would save a good amount of weight of rotational mass as well as save on heat. and withonly paying a small fee for CNC and raw material i would be well under the cost of a full rotating assembly. this would would good with in a NA application where you need the lightest possible parts.

so, am i really off my gord, or has everyone just been so into boost that aluminum has gone to the wayside?

Aluminum pistons are pretty much standard for any quality build. Ford uses a hypereutectic piston, which is aluminum with a higher than standard level of silicone (about 7% added).

Aluminum rods are great for a race engine, but won't live long on a street ride.
SHM has some here for dragonly cars:

If you have a shop willing to make things go for these:

Aluminum U/D power steering pulley
EGR block off plates
U/D water pump pulley

I'm sure with some time to think about it I could think of a few other choice items they could make.
