Ok, I'm finally going to get around to doing h/c/i in a month or so. I'm gonna go with the trick flow package and get O-ringed heads.

So my question is, do you have to/is it necessary/or even possible to also O-ring the block??

I'm still undecided as to whether or not I'm going to do a supercharger or turbo set up, but I'm not going to be running a whole lot of boost. All I'm looking to get is 400-450 rwhp and an 11 second time slip when it's all said an done.

I have read here that the o-ringed heads are complete crap. They say that it's just better to use studs in stead of bolts for the heads. Again that's just what I have read on here on Stangnet.

what makes them crap? do they not seal as well? the price difference in heads for non 0 and 0-ringed is only 60 bucks, are they not worth it?

The Fel-Pro o-ringed gaskets are also more expensive. I bought a pair or used GT-40 irons that had been o-ringed; the gaskets themselves are $60 EACH. I got a pair on eBay for $80, so saved me some cash.

I found out through personal experience that if your going to have a power adder o-ringing your heads is THE way to go. I blew my first headgasket a shortwhile after i had my blower on. They were felpro's. Then after that i tryed copper headgaskets.. I had absolutly no luck with them. I called trick flow and they told me to have the heads o-ringed and use the loc-wire gaskets..

I haven't had a problem sence and its been like 5-6 months and i drive my car every day. Not to mention i have a slight lean condition at higher rpms and i have made 12 lbs of boost on my 9.7:1 motor.

Far as having your block o-ringed too.. I would. Im going to on my next setup coming up here shortly.

Like trick flow said, once you do that you don't have to worry about your headgaskets again. But if its not tuned correctly that may mean damaging other stuff.

And when Jesse had his turbo setup and blew the headgasket on the dyno (AF was good), I would put dollars to donoughts (as my old 1SG use to say) that if he would have had them o-ringed that he wouldn't have had any problems.
