I’m getting ready to order the GI Joe 8 Rib kit and was wondering what the 2.8 pulley would give me boost wise. I’ve got the MPH 4” Boost Pipe and a Paxton A/A intercooler. I think I’m making about 11 psi with a 3.25 pulley now.
I do not know what your boost will be. But you will be turning the blower about 16% faster. The col on the left will be the new engine RPM and the one on the right the old RPM for the same boost.

I hope you're only ordering the blower pulley from Kenne Bell and not the entire pulley swap kit. You can get all the other pulleys much cheaper than that from Ford. All you need (and probably what they give you in the kit) is the 5.4L truck pulley set up.
I'll even give you all of the part numbers and prices.....
.....of course prices are going to varry dealership to dealership, but this should give you a ballpark idea and I'm sure it's waaaaaaay cheaper than what Kenne Bells is charging for them.
Sorry.....I saw GI Joe in your post and automatically associated it with his 2.2L KB he runs on his 2V. Either way, yes the pulleys I posted will work just fine and on top of that, I'll almost bet my life that they're made up of the same part numbers I posted above. No offence to GI Joe......after all, he's in the business of making money on his products, but $500 is an absolutely retarded price to spend on an 8-rib pulley conversion.
...and I haven't got a clue as to what kind of figures you'll see with a 2.8" pulley on your Vortech. I would imagine in the neighbourhood of another 2-3psi.
Ill only make another 2-3 psi going from a 3.25 to a 2.8?
The reason I say this is because I went from a 3.33-3.6 (whatever stock is) making 8 psi to a 3.25 with boost pipe running through an IC making 11 psi.
Hey......I told ya I didn't have a clue. I thought it might make you feel better to have someone quote you a figure. Why don't you contact MPH and see what Tim has to say?
The question is, since you're still running the stock ignition, are you going to be able to run that amount of air through your engine, without experiencing problems with spark blow out? Better tighten up the spark plug gap some more.
Hey thanks for the help gearbanger. Just tryin to get a idea on what im going to be making. I got a friend who has an 03 Cobra running 11.4x-11.2x on average and I want to run with him. Maybe not beat but atleast hang with him.
Do you think a Plasma Booster or KB Boost-a-spark is needed?
Since my dad bought my shot block for me, for Christmas, I got about 2k I can drop in the car right now but come time to drive (March April) it Ill have 2.5-3k
As of right now im thinking
8 Rib Kit = $700(with 2.8 pulley and xtra belt unlees I do your list)
KB BAP = $250
31 Spline = $750-$800
TB/Plenum = $300-$400
Total = $2050 at most
I went with the Kenne Bell Boost-a-Spark personally. The plasma boost seems kinda hokey to me. I can't really comment on how well it works yet, since I'm still in the final stages of getting the car running, but other guys I know using them are quite happy with how they work. I've got a buddy making 550RWHP+ and running mid-10's in his Whipple blown MN12 T-Bird with nothing more done to the ignition that the KB BAS, MSD Coil packs and a good set of plug wires......so Kenne Bell must have done something right with them.
What kind of horsepower levels are you planning on seeing after all is said and done. You're going to pretty much reach the limits of the Lightning MAF and the 42lb/hr injectors by around 450-475rwhp.....so keep that in mind when you're putting this thing together. Either way....that's more than enough horsepower to run low-11's with decent traction.
