Question on which odometer gear to buy..

Question on which odometer gear to buy and what HID set i need.

Hello all, I'm new to the forum, so this is my first post. Ive searched and cant find a good answer.. I found a set on eBay that comes with 2 gear sets for like 35 bucks and shipping, but im curious if anyone has used this kit. the link is as follows..... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Must...ptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories

I just don't want to buy the same material as the first one was.. as obviously they don't hold up long. My 96 gt has both the trip and odometer fix.. so while im installing my reverse glow gauges, i would like to fix both problems.

Also, I'm doing a hid upgrade to my headlights and really need some direction on this one.. im confused as to buy a just low beam or buy the high/low beam.. i mean.. we have 2 sets of bulbs... right? If i remember correctly then, i need to just buy 2 of the low beam sets and install. How long does the process take and do i have to do a splicing and new wire running.. or is it really just a 100 percent plug and play, preschool type install kit? Thanks a lot for any and all help!!

You could consider buying the gear set from a reputable seller for the same price instead of evilbay: 1994-98 Mustang Odometer Repair Gear Kit by 50resto at LRS - Same Day Shipping! I'm sure many other reputable sellers sell something similar instead of taking your chances on ebay.

That is what I ordered. Also... the 'crappy' material of the oem gear lasted 15 years in your car... how long to you need the replacement to last? Probably not more than another 15 years.

You will always get the right part with LMR. eBay can be a crapshoot regardless of how the seller is.

Go with DDM tuning HID's. Many guys on here will say they sell great stuff. I have a set but it is a true Phillips kit used in other cars. There are several other eBay companies that I have seen recommended here. And you need a high/low if you want high beams. Our headlights have one bulb, that moves the light reflected as you switch between highs and lows. Now, you will just need a single low beam kit for your fog lights though. And please, don't make your car look retarded by going with any temperature on the HID's above 8000k.

Oh yeah, I'm going 15k... heh. Nah I suppose 8k will do thw job nicely. I will give the hid vendor a look see, that you mentoned there. As far as gears, ill also give that link a look at. I hope to have my car for a longer period than 15 years.. I mean my friends dad has a 69 that he bought in 68.. so I plan on keeping my gt awhile.. maybe make a nice casket for when I die... hehehe. Thanks for the input. Any idea on the installation process? Whether or not its a true plug and play or not would help a lot. Thanks.

I just bought and installed the odo gears from LMR and they worked great. Another issue I had to was the little motor that turns the worm gear was bad but once I replaced that it's been working ever since.
