Question regarding power seat

Yeah, I know...another question regarding the power seat issue.

Mine has frozen. I can hear the motor's trying to move, but only in one direction. I.e. down, not up, and back, not forward. Not sure if that is the actual direction it is trying to move, as the seat is frozen, but you get the drift. I can actually see the "shafts" from the motors torqueing, just no movement. Bad switch?

I thought about swapping the leads from the switch, but I cannot get at the connectors.

I thought about removing the seat and cleaning the tracks, etc. but I can only access the front bolts. I performed the seat track mod many years ago, and the seat is so far back, that the back bolts are hidden. Any ideas on how to get to them so that I can remove the seat?

When mine froze up, I just used a long box end wrench on the rear bolts (which were buried under the seat itself, given the current rearward position of the seat). A ratcheting box-end wrench makes quicker work of it.

My motor had gone south so I swapped to a manual seat track. The seat does not go back nearly as far as it used to, but it was a LOT cheaper than getting a new motor. I will fab some brackets to move my seat back further one of these days.

Thanks! I'll give it a shot. I figured I could reach the exterior back bolt, but it's good to know that with some effort, the interior back one can be reached as well.

Gary, it sure is worth a shot. I always start with the hardest bolt to access - that way you know if you are 'finished' before you remove other bolts. There is some plastic shrouding around the seat track which got in my way - I bent (some of the long pieces are very mallable) a lot of it out of my way and the little plastic plugs were tossed to the side for better access.

You have tried to move the seat forward while sitting outside the car and pushing on the seat, right? During my seat's final movements, that was what I had to do so it did not have to move my arsh too.

Yup, I tried to move it manually, but no go. The good news is at least I replaced my broken window motor bushings while I was at it!
