Aluminum actually has a high specific heat capacity. Therefore it will take more heat to raise the temperature of aluminum than say cast iron, copper, mercury, tin, zinc and so on. Unfortunately, aluminum will dissipate heat slower than all the other metals previously mentioned. The plastic intake will dissipate heat much better than the aluminum.
As a matter of fact if weight was not such a major factor, it would be much more advantageous to run a copper radiator.
