Questions about Heads...

Hello All, First post, so bear with me..

I am looking to start working on my project a little more in the spring.

I have decided to go and get a set of AFR 165cc heads, along with new push rods and roller rocker's. Right now I have about 1000 miles on a new short block 308 BBP with forged pistons/rods 9.5:1 (along with the modds in my sig)

Can some one tell me what the difference between stud/pedestal mount heads? If there is a benefit from one to the other I can buy a set of rr's to match the heads.

Also, do I have any other things to consider with the install of the heads other then the obvious, IE gaskets, fluid, torque specs, est..?

Im running AFR 165's with stud mounts. Pro Magnum RR's 1.6. The difference between stud and pedestal is how the RR mount to the heads. Stud mounts are alot more durable, and thus the reason most folks run them. Ive been told that pedestal mounts are alot easier to setup/tweak though. You will need to change spark plugs (Autolite 3924's) and possibly valve covers depending on the RRs you choose. Hope this helps. As far as pushrods, Im running trick flow chrome-moly hardened, they're great.
