I just installed my Prochamber and I'm starting to wonder if everything is normal. First of all, the exhaust smells, I assumed this was just because there was no cats but I wanna make sure now. Second, when I hit the throttle there is a loud "sucking in air" sound that is addition to the normal exhaust tone I just wanna make sure this is all normal. Thanks

well where is the "sucking in air" sound coming from?????? since you have a cold air that is most likely the culprit & it is normal for it as well. the easiest way to find out would be to pop the hood & rev the engine from the back of the plenum & see if the sound is coming from right under neath you. :nice:

No it is definitely not the intake, i have that as well but this is similar to that but a whole lot louder and the sound is coming from underneath me, it is coupled with the normal exhaust tone. I really hope theres not a leak or anything cuz this thing was a pain in the ass to get on.

It is probalbly fine. The PC sounds very different from the other mid pipes, especially the stock h. The sound you hear sound be the exhaust gases in the chamber. It should sound like a wooshing sound at medium to WOT. That should be the only time you here it. If you here it while idling you have an exhaust leak.

The PC will smell for 2 reasons. At first the coating on the pipes needs to bake, and it should have a pretty bad smell to it. It will smell pretty bad for a week or two. The best thing to do is really rip on you car a lot to get the exhaust really nice and hot. The hotter the better, and the faster it will cure.

The other reason it smells is that you do not have cats any more. You will notice a strong exhaust smell compared to stock. Reminds me of a snowmobile or motorcylce engine's exhaust. I kind of like it.

Couldn't say it better myself. I've had mine in for 4 months and it still smells. With no cats this is normal. The sucking air sound is also normal. If your are still worried, put it up and listen for leaks or take it to a shop and have them check. What you are describing sounds normal though.

Lucky!

What's really funny is that my WIFE loves that smell. Every time we're going somewhere in the cobra, she likes to go behind the car and just sniff the exhaust a couple of times. Had to interject that here.

I wish MAC made a prochamber for the 96-98 cobras. Friend of mine has one on his '98 GT and it sounds fantastic. I had to settle for a regular H-pipe. (still sounds ok, but lacks that "whooshing" sound that I love)

Anyway, enjoy it! not everyone can have one of those...
