Basic setup, in-dash cd/mp3 player, door speakers, dash speakers, 6x8s in the rear decklid, and 1 10" in the trunk.
I have been having an issue with the 10" and air space. The woofer is designed to be in a small, sealed, box...which it is. But there is a noticeable difference in the bass with the trunk open and the trunk closed. I have it sounding pretty much the way I want it, but when I open the trunk the bass hits HARD. Obviously I can't go drilling holes in my trunk...so I thought about putting ports on the rear decklid itself...where the rear speakers mount. So lately I have been driving around with the fade all the way to the front, so I am listening to my radio through the 4 front speakers and the woofer only. Doesn't sound too bad, but I would like to have some of the mid-range back. Which leads me to my real question....
Has anybody put speakers in the rear 1/4 panels? It looks like I could fit a 5" door speaker in the rear panel, but I am not sure. I figure I can put a set of mid-range speakers...maybe 2 or 3 ways, in the rear 1/4 panels by mounting them and using the rear speaker connectors. Then remove the two rear 6x8s and use those speaker holes for my air space for the woofer.
Before I remove my trim panels, has anybody already tried this?
