Questions about the PI intake

Ok guys i'm pretty sure my intake is now trash so I need to replace it. I have three questions.

1. Can someone show me what the aluminum crossover refers to? I don't know if i already have it on my car and i'd like to know what i'm looking at.

2. Does anyone know how much a new aluminum crossover intake would be? I don't really want to spend a lot of money, but i don't know if used parts are worth the hassle.

3. Anyone have a good write-up of an intake install with some pics?

Some good info here.

The aluminum crossover is the section in front of the manifold just behind the alternator. The old ones were plastic and subseptible for cracking. The newer ones have the aluminum runner at the thermostat housing. New intakes can be found for under 250.

Wow there really is some good info there! Looks like the install shouldn't be too hard, although i hate dealing with coolant.
