I am trying to decide which tires to go with on my 500hp daily driver. I have a handling suspension and have it lowered 1 1/2. I was going to get the Firestone Firehawk SZ50's but have been told they no longer make them. Is this true? I see the Tire Rack still has them but not sure for how long... I am also considering the Kumho ECSTA Supra 712's, the BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW and the Yokohoma AVS ES100's.

I drive rain or shine so wet traction is important to me. I would also like some input as to what size would be best. I have stock Pony wheels and am currently running 245/45/16 and 245/50/16 Nitto DR in the rear. I am thinking about going with a decent handling tire all around this time. Any and all input/suggestions are welcome. Thanks in advance!

I have Toyo proxes T1-S on my car and they are said to be the best road race/ street tire ever. They have stiff side walls and a very aggressive tread pattern. They do get good traction wet and dry, but you will still spin any tire no matter how good with all that power. I'm running 245/45/16 all around. I will tell you that they are not very good strip tires, the sidewall is too stiff. I'm running bfgoofrich drag radials in the rear just for the track. But the toyos are amazing if you don't mind spending $210 per tire.

I was doing the same thing a few months back. Could'nt decide. Finally price helped me settle on some nice Yokohama avs 100s 245-45-16s all around. $108 each, free delivery from discounttiredirect.com.

I was sure they would hook nicely on the street, but have been amazed at how well they grip in the rain. Granted mine is stock, I can accelerate 3/4- full throttle in 2nd and not break them loose!

Also, I cant get the thing to hydroplane, period! I love them. Havent had a chance to get to the track yet this year, but I doubt they will hook too well.

Good luck!

These aren't on the list, but I think that the Sumitomo HTR Z's are good bang for the buck. Tire rack has them for about the same price as the Kuhmo's I think. I don't really have much experience with any on the list, but the Sumitomos hook great and have good manners in the rain. However, you say 500hp, which is at least double what I have. Still a good tire for the price though.

I have BFG's now (not what's listed above) and like those. Alot of people seem to like to Nitto's as well (didn't see them on the list), they sound like they have real good bite. I really didn't like the Firestone's on my car (also different than above listed), they had no grip IMO.
