Questions on getting a Used 06 Mustang 'vert

Hey all,
I thoroughly searched your site, and learned a ton. Thanks!! :SNSign:
This is my first post, and definitely not my last..
Looking for some info.

I will be picking up a used 06 Black on black Mustang convertible with charcoal grey interior on saturday. I'm getting a really good price on it from a Ford dealer.
It is about 10 months old and has about 22k miles on it already. It's an auto, V6.
It appears to be in mint shape. The motor sounds nice and drives great. Shifts beautifully, etc...

Are there specific issues I should look for before purchasing this?
Were there any TSB's that I should make sure were done on the car?
Any info would be greatly appreciated!


Anything else I should keep an eye out for?


Also..
I found a wealth of info on the 17" GT rims but nothing on the 16" rims.

This car has the Stock 16" rims with the 215 tires on it.
They look tiny, and I'd like to max out the tire size on these rims.
I really like these rims due to their retro Shelby Cobra Knockoffs look.
What is the largest (both height and width) that I can fit on this car?
I dont plan on lowering it, or going to bigger rims.
I love the tubbed/back halfed look on race cars or old school muscle cars.

Any ideas?

TSBs are listed in a sticky post at the top of the forum. Most of the major issues were worked out in the '05 model, so your '06 should be pretty clean, especially if it was produced later in the year. With 22k miles on it, it might be an early '06, so that's something to consider.

p.s. The newer GTs have 18" wheels being put on, so you can probably put pretty much whatever you want on there and not have any problems with the wheel wells. I don't have any specifics though, sorry.

Thanks for the response.
I was hoping that any potential issues would be resolved later in 05 early 06.
This car was manufacturered on 10/20/05 according to the Car-fax.
So I'll take a look at the 05 issues just to make sure they were addressed.

TSB work is normally only done to a vehicle that has the problem, they don't just do them as standard practice.

This will also normally only be done if the owner complains about it.

My early 05 had a bunch of tsb issues but my late 05 build 06 has had no tsb issues at all.

According to the NADA book I just saw, full retail is about $18,000 on such a car. Depends on how it is equipped, though.

That seems a little on the low side, obviously you said depending on options.
I ran it on KBB.com and with the options
suggested retail is $22,600,
Trade in value is $17,350
and private party value is $19,925

That seems a little more realistic, the car is in excellent condition.
And that price also depends on location. A used convertible is going to be priced different on Long Island as compared to Ohio.
I'm getting it for what you listed the full retail as anyway

Could have gotten an 05 GT 'vert for $22k but I didnt need that much power for a daily driver, although it would be fun.

Any more info on the tires?
Anyone still running the 16's?

I picked it up yesterday and ran through half a tank of gas already. LOL
She drives really well and love the leather and the Shaker 500 w/ 6CD/mp3.

I lowered my car with the Eibach Pro Spring kit and still was able to fit 20" wheels with 225/35R20 tires and had no issues.

I was looking at "economy" cars and figured if I was gonna be driving 15+ hrs a week, I was damn well gonna LIKE the car I was driving!

I'm over 38,000 miles in less than 1 year.

Still love it.

And yeah, your mileage destroys mine. LOL
I have a whopping 5 miles each way for my commute. hehehehe
But of course, we will make up those miles with road trips.

Not so much of a Rob Zombie fan, recent stuff is pretty weak at best,
but White Zombie was awesome, thus the name.
I figured that it was a good fit for a screenname.
