questions on tunning 94-95 gt ecu

A few things to think about

To retrofit the older pcm

1) You need an aftermarket ignition
2) IIRC ... The fan then is no longer controlled by the pcm
3) You need a harness
or
You gotta figure how to pin out your original harness
4) You gotta find a Fox pcm or the kit

Might be more stuff still ... but that is all I can think of for now

At this point in time ... Yes ... That pcm works better with mods
but
It has not been optimized in any way and is still OEM or Stock

It always boils down to application

If you are gonna go pretty far with the mods .....

Even the ... Almighty A9L ... Works better optimized :Word:

Many have done the retrofit and are happy

You just gotta add up how much it costs to go down each road
and see which is better for you

Call up Pro Mass Air Systems. I talked to them a few years ago and they had a kit that controls the fan and whatnot. Around $350 I think.

From what I have researched the A9L's are a TON better than our computers. So many fox's are running some nice setups without even a chip or other tuning. There is no way we can get away with things like that. Talk to most tuners and they'll tell you that SN95 can be a pain in the rear.

Mr Grady summed it up well. We can really think of it almost analogous to going from EFI to a carb. The carb is deemed to be simpler and can make a ton of WOT power, but it can be far from optimal in all driving conditions.

If a stang is modded enough to need an A9* EEC, it probably would really benefit from a tune anyhow. Why not keep the superior SN95 processor (it is a better processor, hardware-wise).

Unless a swap kit is free, that money could be spent on tuning the SN EEC (even if someone wants to just have a chip burned that mimics an A9L).

Im in a similar situation. Just bought a 95 thats bone stock except coil overs,and exhaust. I have a "spare" fox I was planning on swapping everything out of. I would like to keep the 95 computer,but I change setups quite a bit. I dont want to have to get a new chip burned everytime I want to change something. Does Pro Mass Air still make that kit ? My brother has it in his 95 GTS. I havent been able to find it since they were called Pro-M. If they have it,thats what I want to do.

For the cost, you can have a Moates Quarterhorse and change it whenever you'd like, yourself. The learning part is free and there's quite a few that can help with whatever you'd need to know.
