Yes I am new to the forums. I own a 00 silver GT completly stock as of right now. I had a couple questions. I have bought the ford racing 3.73 diff gears and besides sockets and normal tools what else would be needed to change the gears themselves. recently blew a rod bearing racing an M3 down the interstate. Are those common things that might go out if not replaced with racing/pro bearings? Also I am very short on money. I would like to gain the most performance from my mustang as of now on a very limited budget. If you have any ideas on what else I could do for now to add performance within a asmall budget it would be nice. One last thing. I was looking at PI heads for my 4.6 I have found multiple PI heads for the romeo engine but none for the windsor. If you have seen them for a windsor can u post a link. Also any opinions on the romeo vs windsor engine block with pros and cons of each. Thx.

I agree with the last two posts BIG TIME!!!!

Looking for some bang for the buck on a tight budget:

1 - Under Drive Pullies: $150 with install I think. 8-10 rwhp

2 - Mid Pipe w/o cats: Can find them for $150 and you will get at least 10 rwhp.

Those are by far the cheapest mods for the gains. Just watch the mid pipe as it won't be street legal if they smog test where you live. And the sound may not be what you want.

99 up has P.I heads , You have a Windsor Block in your 2000 GT , there is not much difference ( on the block itself ) , main beraings are differrent and some misc. parts .

For the rear end install you shoould get a new pinion bearing I'm pretty sure you'll have to change it , seals are not expensive so you should get new one.

You should not need shims but I'll suggest to get some or get the installation kit from Ford !

ok guys. I have the pinion and gear i will pick up the bearings and seals for the pinion and diff. also i live in a city with emisisons. are mid pipes gonna mess up sensors or anything along that line. Also I am planning on putting in a audio system wont underdrive pullies reduce the amperage my alternator puts out?

if you live where you have to pass emissions and want to replace your mid pipe you can get one that has cats on it ( catalytic converters), some are 50 state legal(magnaflow) but it is illegal to remove a working cat(I plan on doing it anyway very soon). If you get a mid pipe without cats you will need mil eliminators, 2 of them. For pipes w/cats I dont thinkyou need them but nothing is 100%. Pi heads are on all 99+ gt's. As far as rod bearings that is over my head i'm not even positive what youre talking about, when I do my gears I plan on getting them installed professionaly, I think you have to drain the transmission fluid, a mechanic at my local lford shop quoted me 225 installed for used gears out of a wrecked explorer. I have ud pulleys on and have not had any charging problems yet and I live in FL(I've only had them about 3 months though). My audio system has about 650watts peak, 350 rms. If you want a 1000+ watt system you should avoid the pulleys but most mild systems shouldnt give you a problem(mine is plenty loud enough for me)
