Ok, this might be a double post....

long time no talk, for some of us

Ok, so I just picked up a 358w and it came complete all the way to the lower intake manifold, which is a trickflow peice.

I've been lookin for an upper for it, but not sure if the 351 trick flow uppers are the same as the 302 based applications.

I know this is the case for GT40 parts, but before i decide to start spending cash on parts that won't work, I'm looking for some confirmation that any old trick flow upper will work on this lower intake, and maybe even some advice on which one i should go for...

Money is not quite an issue, and to be honest, I wouldn't mind having a custom fabbed upper if need be.

Advice?

Yep, but I'm not 100% that the uppers are interchangable between the TFS Street Heat, Track Heat, and R model intakes. Someone else will have to chime in for a definitive answer. By the way, thank you for your service, even though I'm here in the US.

Hey Matt, thanks for the kind words man. Hearing it from you guys is the same is hearing it from our guys, y'know...since we all share the same continent and all.

Danny - you're wife is still here? Man! I'll really have to put a search out for her, there's alot of you guys over here.... when's the next time she's around KAF? Overall things have been going good, I'm still above the ground, but it's been a lot busier than my last tour, that's for sure

Ahhhhh Will.....y'know, when I saw that you'd went out of your way and made a call on the subject, it didn't surprise me at all coming from you. Thanks again, buddy, you probably just saved me some money

She doesn't know, when ever they send her she goes. Yeah she's working 27-32 hours a day with 12 hr crew rest then back at it. She said it's going pretty smooth for her crew as well.

I'm fairly certain that the uppers are the same within the families, and I think the Street and Track heat uppers are the same. I know for the fact that the R series has larger ports, but will still bolt up to a Street or Track Heat.

I am talking to "Alan" in tech support, who is "reading" the Tricklow applications to me as we speak. He asked me to hold while he checks on something...lol

He is stating the R is a little different, the openings are different, as Parchis said,
he is now checking with Trickflow, and I'm on hold again....

All of the TF intakes will fit but the R is the one that will match the lower that is on the 358.

So after checking with Trickflow that is the final answer.....lol

Hopefully I didn't confuse you.....
Parchisi-thanks for the heads up, prompted me to make the second call....

Teamwork......FTW...

BAM! That's what i'm looking for. I want to run the TF-R Box anyway, I just wasn't sure.

After a quick phonecall to the previous owner, I learned that he actually used the box style upper as well.

Now I just need to find a box upper without the lower.

anybody know of anything out there?

oh...and I do intend on making this one hell of an engine. The good news is that it's complete, it will bolt right up to my T5 with no modifications, and I've already picked up the hood I need to clear the new engine height. All I have to do is mount it, wire it, tune it, and drive it away. At least I hope it's that easy. I'm sure there'll be a hiccup or two, but I'm determined....DETERMINED...to get this finished very shortly after I get home from this place

I just can't wait to finish it and get to some car shows with some of you guys this summer!

Man, that thing's gonna be a monster!
Did you get a spec sheet or details on the motor you bought? Whats it got for heads/cam and other internals? Any idea on comp. ratio?
I won't be worthy to park my car anywhere near yours at the Brockville show the way things are going

Only thing is you'd better take it easy on that T5 with the new torque monster

Let me know if you need any help putting her back together...

Hey man!!! You better be at the show this year, or I'll find you and punch you in the neck.

Well, I've got the details on the motor, but I'd rather wait until I get it dyno'd before I can give solid numbers. I can safely say it's above 400 horsepower with matching torque numbers, and the guy before me ran low 12's with it in a 94 vert.

As for the T5, I'm already looking at replacements, since I have a funny feeling I will turn it into soup after a short time.

I talked to Joe Dasilva about the engine, and I think I'm going to use him for the tune. He's got some experience with 351 swaps into our mustangs, so I'd rather him make it start working.

I'm looking for the parts list here but I must have left them up at work, so when I find'em I'll get the list up here

Now it's just a matter of making it as pretty as it looks!
