Quick carb question...

...but first off...hey again, havent been around in a long time...but have been trolling in the background lately.

Now for my question, I have either a holley 4150 or 4160...ill check it tonight, and I'm considering a rebuild kit. The problem I'm having is the secondary floats keep getting stuck, dumping fuel into the engine. Luckily, a screwdriver and a wrench is all it takes to get her adjusted fine again and I'm on my way home...This only happens when I turn the car on after it's been sitting, never in the middle of driving...if it happens at all. Everything is tuned right so I'm not worried about that, I have access to an EGA machine so that keeps the A/F ratio in check.

So does this sound like something worth the hassle of a rebuild kit? Or does it sound like I have some dirt somewhere clogging something up. If it helps any, this started happening right after I was running her pretty hard following my roommate home.

Hope this isn't a stupid question but I'd like to get an idea of the right route to take so downtime is minimal. Bike goes up for sale tomorrow in the shop so Stang is the main means of transportation for a lil bit.

I would probably just swap in a different secondary side needle and seat if the rest of the carb is good.You should be able to pick up a Holley one at any speed shop.

also look at the pivot point for the float. sometimes the rod gets a groove worn in it and the float can stick in that groove. the groove will be very small, and can easily be missed.

I would say you have a reaccuring contamination problem probably coming from the fuel tank. I have a canister type filter on mine that filters down to 2 microns (that's water molecule size) to keep out the junk.
