Quick Octane Question

Before fuel prices skyrocketed, I've been using 93 octane in my car. But in light of high prices, I was wondering what the lowest octane fuel I could use with my current mods and timing at 12*.

You are going to have to play around with it - no one can tell you (if there was a magic timing number we could all use, it would be in a sticky).

I would bet you can run 12* on 87 (unless you have a sick CR or something).

Just give it a try and see.

I don't really see why you would want to change octanes , I mean no offense, but here 93 is only 10 cents more a gallon thats only a $1.50 difference for a full tank from 87 octane. Stick with the 93 octane its a safe bet.

You should be running the lowest octane you can without experiencing detonation anyway. You will have to try each step down till you get detonatino and then step up the last level you didn't get detonation with.
