Hey guys, my MGW shifter came in and i installed it. The question i have is when you guys installed the handle on the shifter, did you put it an at angle towards yourself or just straight up and down? I did it at a slight angle towards myself and went for a test drive. It felt pretty notchy and 1-2 was awesome but 3rd felt a bit unsure. Is it because its not broken in yet or because i have it at an angle meaning it doesnt shoot straight into 3rd when i push the shifter up? Thanks

I have mine slighty angled toward me. I messed around with it untill it felt good. You might want to try turing it a bit to see if it feels any better. Also give it a week or two to break in. It should get better. Best shifter I owned. :nice:

Its just that 3rd was a bit off to me, not a straight easy shot.

Hmm, guess ill give it a few days to break in.BTW

When you guys took the shifter off, how high was the level of your transmisison fluid in the transmission that u could see? Mine was pretty much empty in that top part in that shifter housing part. I could see it down below but i dont know if that means im low or not.

There was a little fluid in the top where the shifter sits at.

As far as the angle, I know mine is turned so the handle is angled at me, and it shifts fine. My shifter handle and shift knob are angled... lol.

Give it time to break in though, and dont be too quick to start banging shifts. It takes some getting used to at first.

I just posted a few pictures I took during my installation on my web page: http://www.weather-check.com/mgw_sts.htm

Angled FTW! I angled both my red handle and my blue handle and havent had a problem. The first few days it was definitely A LOT stiffer. Now after breaking it in, its like butter. (EDIT: Damn, just noticed Exindust said butter right before me! So ummm, "Now after breaking it in, its like margarine!).

Mine just came with the orange handle. I don't know what angle it sits at. I love the way it shifts! My wife even likes it and wants one for her 2000 Eclipse GT. With all the mods I've done see didn't notice anything but the shifter. Pearl.

There is not supposed to be any fluid inside the hole where the shifter resides. Only very little fluid splashes up into there.

I have my shifter at about 45*. I also have a red handle. I tried an orange handle and was not too crazy about it when put at the 45* angle. I prefer the red/blue setups better.

Give the shifter 2-3 weeks to break in. I've had the shifter in my car for well over 2 years now (was one of the first MGW users) and have NEVER missed a gear with it.

OKay, its been a few days now and the shifter feels ALOT better. Ive tried shifting fast into 3rd an dhave yet to even come close ot pmissing. I love this thing :D

Next on the list : Cobra R Hood (Sittin in living room), Chin Spoiler and Grill Delete, 3.73's :hail2:
