quick question about lifter preload

I know,I know,it's been asked before, but I've read so many posts n still haven't found an answer to my question. Here goes used a dial indicator to determine I've got.270 of preload, would it be ok to shave off the pedestals to get .300 preload on all the lifters? Is it better to be closer to .200 or .600 as far as preload goes?I know it would be time consuming but wouldn't it be better if all were set exactly the same? Can't stick around to wait for an answer ,son needs a hair cut,but i'll check back later.Any info would be greatly appreciated.

never was any good with decimal,it would be .027.I was experienceing alot of valvetrain noise with a set of crane 1.7s.Checked the preload, within tolerance, still loud as [email protected]ched to 1.6s,hope that takes care of it.Read alot of guys complaining about noise with the 1.7 cranes.I used that way of checking preload Boz,thanks, you always give good advice,Did the marker thing on my valve stems n wear pattern right in the middle.
